Before we went to Bacolod, I was already scouring the web for good restaurants to try. One of the restaurants that caught my attention was Cafe Bob’s. Although I made a mental note of this restaurant before we left Manila, I completely forgot about this until I actually caught a glimpse of their nameplate. Even funnier is that we ended up eating here only because the restaurant we really wanted to try (across the street) was filled to the brim.
I thought we walked into a coffee shop instead of a full-fledged restaurant since the first thing I saw was the pastry counter. Pretty cakes and adorable cupcakes were neatly lined up, waiting for a customer with a sweet tooth to walk in and bring ’em home. 😀 Unfortunately, we weren’t the one those gorgeous little babies were waiting for. Haha.
Anyway, this is a self-service restaurant so we had to line up at the counter to place our order. I just wish they made the menu text a lot bigger. Being near-sighted, I had trouble reading the dishes. I had to squint the hell out of my eyes. Just sayin’. 😀
The food arrived fairly quickly. My Beef Burrito was first to be served. To be honest, I was a little taken aback by how small it looked. Besides that, it looked completely bland and boring. I wasn’t expecting a lot in terms of taste and filling since it was so flat–almost like a lumpia roll, actually. I sliced it in half to see how much meat and whatnot were packed inside the soft shell, I was disheartened. How can this be called a burrito?
I have never been able to wolf down an entire “normal” burrito without the help of my boyfriend. But with this one, I managed on my own. I don’t know if I should be happy about it–that apparently, the size and portions were enough for a girl my size or that it doesn’t look like the burrito we all know.
We were enticed into ordering a pizza so we went with the Alfredo Deluxe, which looked fairly safe. The boyfriend’s little sister was with us so we had to order something that she could enjoy too. 😀
I hate it when restaurants serve pizza with parmesan cheese already sprinkled on top so that was already a turn-off. In terms of taste, it was so-so. The restaurant prepares their pizza using a brick oven though, so I basically enjoyed the crust alone. 😀
P.S.
They serve great gelato! 🙂
